It becomes more and more evident that the story that isn’t visible, told, or owned is the one that holds the most power.

V, “The Apology”

i’m katiebrown

Trauma survivor, writer, storyteller.

Constant questions-asker.

Voracious learner.

Active listener.

Articulate speaker.

Collaborative heart.

Significant potty-mouth.

My favorite thing is helping others work through their shit.

My formal education is in cultural anthropology

studying human societies and how culture influences our view of ourselves, others, and the world we inhabit.
I lived and taught in Japan through the Jet Programme, and have traveled to a dozen countries and counting.

I'm also really fucked up.

My lifelong education is in mental health and trauma recovery because hot damn, I’ve been through some shit.

My story is powerful, meaningful,
and worth sharing.

What I have learned in the
process of trying to heal from it
is my offering.

Because shit has got to change

and it only will
if we talk about it
